Just download an easy to use distro like Debian or Fedora and then just add to that. So apt-get wireshark and nmap -- download metasploit and aircrack or i dunno, whatever you want to do. BTW, as Jefro said, there's some weird network traffic in BT if your monitor it closely :/ (saw it recently in one of our CS labs) i dont trust a bunch of hackers to make me a 'hacking' distro. People should just learn to program and make their own tools, they'll be 100 times better and actually KNOW what they are doing.

burn your iso of any linux that can give you a gui if you don't know how to use the terminal, copy the contents of /var/log/Xorg.0.log or any logs if you saw under that path.upload it or post it here so someone can help.

i think its better just leave that boy just like that because he is motivated to use and learn linux because of what he wants and likes, maybe eventually he will learn something,
exploitation tools and to boot linux is 2 different things, (so your comment about "How can you use the exploitation tools if you can't get it to boot?" is less logic here) one is about launching security tools and another about the process of booting getting the gui.to launch an exploit is easier than to repairing boot error.

the same thing happened to me. i bought several books to learn linux eventually. learning the bash,c programming under bt, using the gcc to compile etc. i don't know how you start using linux, maybe you learned purely under university somehow..different people, different path..can't you see it?

Not an option. The OP uses a live-USB, so once he shuts down the machine to boot from a live-CD the logs are gone.

Maybe he installed it Full on the USB instead of a "live usb".

Please if your not here to help i will ask you not to answer I actually know how to use some exploitation tools i found that the newest linux softawe wont run in an acer with Intel i3 i found this by logic there are about 5 posts of people who own an acer with intel i3 that can't boot either newest Fedora and ubuntu...

Basically it is not such a bad idea to try to boot the system with Ubuntu. If it works with Ubuntu we know that your issue must be caused by a change made by the BackTrack developers, if it doesn't work with Ubuntu it may be possible that there is already a solution for the issue that has not been considered now.

Even if it booted to another computer that doesn't prove the install is OK. MD5 or shal should have been questioned.

I assume that a live usb should work if we assume there is enough ram and at least some way to run vesa mode. Do we know how much ram is available? Did we ever try to boot to vesa mode?

Can look at /var for xorg issues?

I can't tell yet what the issue. I don't care for the live usb's. I might even attempt a proper install to the usb as if it were a normal hard drive to see if the live usb app or some compression or usb speed/cache deal is behind it.

Does this laptop boot correctly to a different (same base) live usb made with this creator?

Can you try a different live usb creator tool?
