Backspace key odd behaviour on usb keyboard (Point Linux 2.3.2)

Hello,

I've been using Point Linux 2.3.2 on a eMachines (Acer) m350 since a few months with a VGA Acer screen, a USB Logitech mouse, and an Acer generic keyboard, without any major issues. However since the day before yesterday my Backspace key (on the usb keyboard) constantly gets me back on the previous page, in Firefox 39.0. Even when I make sure that the cursor's focus is on the the text box, the Backspace key deletes the character AND gets me one page back.

I already tried the browser.backspace_action trick to disable the "Previous page" function but it only works for the integrated keyboard, not the external one.

Same issue on Caja (file explorer) when, for instance, I'm renaming a file and deleting a character, it gets me one folder back every time.
I went to ~/.config/mate/accels/eom and removed the line ; (gtk_accel_path "<Actions>/MenuActionsCollection/BackSpace" "BackSpace") and restarted Caja : same problem.

I cannot find where this is coming from, but I noticed that now when I'm pressing Caps lock on my integrated keyboard, the indicator no longer lights up on the usb keyboard. Maybe that is a clue pointing to some driver failure.

Any ideas ?

UPDATE : I am now facing the same problem on the same keyboard on my desktop computer under Windows XP. I shall lock this thread since that does not look like a Linux software issue. If any one has any clue about how to fix my keyboard, feel free to PM me.
