Averatec 5040 series?

What distro, if any, has anyone had any luck with this?

Here are the specs I know of so far:

Athlon XP 2800-M
512MB DDR
40GB HD
DVD/CD burner
Sis mobo (?)

As far as problems I've had:

Sound card recognized but fails
Network (10/100), the same
Video is fine

The distros I've tried:

Mandriva 10.1 (video failed)
Fedora Core 4 (where I'm at now, no sound/no lan)

Any help out there? I what this to be a linux based system and not the default WinXP Home that it came with. Mainly to convince a co-worker that linux is good for day-to-day use. And I want to use It as a personal media player, no hardcore tasks for me.

Here is the official manual: http://support.averatec.com/images/p...ers_Manual.pdf

Specs:

My main concerns are the audio & lan. I want them to work then I will mess with the wireless later.

I don't know about the 5040 series, but maybe this might help?
