I just installed RED HAT 9.B on my DELL INSPIRON 8600. I had to use the default video card configuration because I don't find my exact video card on the config. It works ok, but I just have to use a lower resolution to have all the screen full. I tried several ATI video cards on the configuration (ATI RADEON, ATI MOBILITY and others) and the only result I have is a crach of X-window.
At DELL's site they don't have any driver (Linux) and on ATI's site they send me to DELL's one. I've benn looking a little bit everywhere at linux forums and web sites, but I never find something about this video card (too new?!?!?!?). I can work with my laptop with the actual config, but I would like to use all the features of my video card with Linux.
Hey, know the pain.. I have a Ati Radeon Mobility 9600 Pro.. Using SuSe.. I have great 2D performance, and all the colors... with mostly any resolution I need, however I have no 3D Acceleration.
ATI does have drivers for us mobile people.. that I found Here Good Luck, I have yet to get 3D acceleration working on mine.. (mostly from lack of time).
