ati IGP340M and dual head/xinerama display

Has anyone out there been able to get a dual head display mode or xinerama working properly with an ATI IGP340M video chipset? I am running Mandrake 10.1 on an HP ze4100 laptop. I am able to get both displays going in clone mode just fine with my external monitor at a higher 1280x1024 resolution, and the "Xinerama on" option seems to be recognized in the X11 log file without errors also. But dual heads or a 2 screen virtual desktop just does not work. Here is my x11 config file:

# File generated by XFdrake.
