The laptop runs Linux Mint MATE 18.1, but it sometimes has these weird keyboard problems when "k" = "g/km" "9" = "t[9l" and "o" = "y;\o{enter}", if I do "shift + k" it prints out "ASDG". So far those are the only keys that I've found working like that. Sometimes the problem will go away if I restart the PC or press some random keys, but now it seems to not go away at all. I've tried using default US keyboard layout, but it still doesn't stop this problem. The keyboard on the laptop does have a "function" key on the left of the "left control" key, but it doesn't have a number pad (maybe this is causing the problem).
Also I probably should mention that on Ubuntu it didn't have such a problem (I guess Mint isn't that well developed), but I don't remember which version it was (maybe 14.something). Also I need both "k" and "o" to type the password in, so can't do updates any longer (if you missed it then realize that "o" has an {enter} function, which also keeps me from typing anything with "o" in it).
I guess there's nothing else I can really do, unless this would be an issue for several laptops.
Not sure what you mean by the keyboard config (if you meen the layout, then you can just look it up), but so far all I can give is that I've set it up as "asus -> laptop keyboard" from the menu it gives you to choose from. Everything else (except input language) is default to Linux Mint installation.
How many keys does the keyboard of your laptop have?
I don't know why should it matter, but it's 88 (including Pause Break; Ins; Prt Scr Sys Rq; Del; Home; Pg up; Pg dn; End)
I installed Ubuntu and there's no such problem anymore (although the touchpad scrollwheel doesn't work)
