Asus A6KM-Q056H's ACPI worked - once

Yes but yes.

I bought on Asus laptop in spring. Noticed then that ACPI isn't working. I was using openSuse. Tried to fix it, but pretty soon I gave up.

And then, sitting bored in a train, decided to test Mepis 6.0 on the laptop. My eyes dropped out of my head when it really booted without ACPI=OFF. I was so excited, I had to call my girlfriend who's not even interested in these things.

It booted, and init showed acpi starting. It got to the desktop and I could see my battery state and could turn it of just by clicking the power-off button. Then I decided to install it on my laptop.

I had to wait for couple of weeks to get my Internet connection and desktop-pc running for backing up data. Well tonight I finally was ready to replace my no-acpi suse with mepis.

THE MOTHERF***ER DOESN'T WORK ANYMORE!! With the same laptop and the same f***ing disc and crashes just after "Ok, booting the Kernel".

What could have changed? I've done nothing that I can imagine would affect this.

Any ideas?

Sincerely,
Matti Läyhä

ps. Sorry for the language, I'm so pissed off. Laptops flying through the window soon, me after it, (5th floor) hope we hit someone(and he/she dies too)!

And now i feel stupid.

I think I've used my laptop without power management, just because i didn't realize that it does not work if I have my USB mouse connected at boot up.
