Armada 3500 with no Comaq partition would LINUX work?

Hello all!

I am a newbie in Linux but would like to have it on my notebook Compaq Armada 3500 with 266MHz processor and with no Compaq partition! I bought a new 4,2GB HDD which have no Compaq partition! My dotebook doesn't have any floppy drive nor a CD-rom drive! But it has a USB connector! Is it available for me to put Linux for example RH9 on Armada's disk putted in my home PC and than put it back in notebook? Will it work without Compaq partition? I read on web it might work but i am not sure! Please help!

If anybody have the same notebook is there a chance to make a image of that partition and send it to me?

It may be possible to get linux on there. Its gonna be really tricky without the floppy drive! here is a document that I think you should read. Its about older laptops, and installing linux on them. Your laptop is newer, but without a floppy drive even, that leaves you with limited options. this document shows you how to install without a floppy or a cdrom!
