APIC - disable

Hello,
How can I disable APIC in kernel(ver 2.6.0)? There isn't any switches in make menuconfig. Futhermore when i change it manually in .config it is changed back(during make bzImage or make menuconfig).

APIC not apci. try $ cat .config|grep "APIC" in kernel 2.6.0 source.

Do you mean APIC or ACPI, ACPI is for power management and I believe APIC is for running dual CPUs, not sure, but if you want APIC disabled and you are using Grub as the boot manager you can add APIC=no to the options in grub. I am not sure about LILO this is what it would look like:

kernel /boot/vmlinuz-2.4.22-1.2129.nptl ro root=LABEL=/ hdc=ide-scsi acpi=on apic=off rhgb

If it is acpi you are taliking about just remove acpi=on

I mean APIC and this boot parameters doesn't work in 2.6.0 . It isn't so urgent now, beacause i managed to configure all i want on 2.4.22.
