anything that is fullscreen or maximized goes away??
 
hey im new to linux everyone, i have a laptop (sony vaio pcg k23) and i installed mandriva 2010 last night.. for some reason the wallpaper wont show and i figured out that if i maximize any window full screen it will display nothing. just black in the window. anyone have any idea how to fix this ??

Have you tried the Mandriva backports?

You can find out which ATI graphics chip is in your computer by entering the following command in a terminal window.
