I'm about to install Fedora 19 on a Samsung ultrabook (NP530U3C), coming with Windows 8 pre-installed, and therefore with secureboot enabled in BIOS.

I've read of *severe* issues with installing linux on top of that, including the possibility of even bricking the machine :-\

I hope FC19 is sufficiently up to date to cope with such issues: can you confirm that? Has anyone had experience with FC19 on Samsung ultrabooks/secureboot?

Can you recommend a self-contained primer or intro describing the installation of FC19 dual-booting with Win8 on a secureboot laptop?

Be sure to boot to the boot menu. See if there is an efi choice for dvd/cd and a regular entry for dvd/cd. Use the efi.

You always need to clone this drive to begin with if you want to save the data. Remember there is data on it in hidden partitions usually. Be sure you understand or buy the recovery media if needed. Save off your personal data.

I'd use Windows 8 to create free partition space. Even then you may be running out of number of partitions so look at this to begin with.
