Question Agere System AC97 modem on RedHat9

I am new to Redhat so this may be a simple fix. I installed Redhat 9 recently and configured my network to us my ethernet card to connect to the internet. I recently left my LAn and tried to set up a connection using my modem. (Using X Windows) when I try to select the modem connection it says that no modem was found?? I know that the modem is there but what do I need to do to get it to recognize it and set up the connection. I have a IMB Thinkpad A31 (2652-3jU). The modem is a Agere System AC97 Modem.

Thanks
Jeff
