Aged laptop - display config with Xfree86

I'm trying to install X on an older pentium laptop with a small ( <11 inch ) LCD display and a Cirrus Logic CL6729 chip. It's been running Win95 at 800x600x16 perfectly fine. However, I'm not sure what values I should use for horizontal and vertical refresh rates. I don't know how refresh rates work in LCD displays (Since they are very different than CRTs), but are they similar? I've booted to a knoppix CD and checked the values set in XF86Config, so they should probably work, but are they really optimal? Will the wrong values cause potential damage to an LCD display like a CRT?

Newer monitors won't allow themselves to be set out of display range, all of the fear disciminated about people blowing out their CRTs is mostly old news now. Honestly, just leave the ranges blank and let X sort it out, I was playing with some P133 laptops for a while and just guessed 30-60 and 50-90 and never had one have issues... old trident chipsets too. XFree86 4.x.x will try to not let you assign an out of range value to the monitor, so feel free to guesstimate more.

Cheers,
