ACPI error on ubuntu 18.04 boot


I am trying to run Linux Ubuntu 18.04 along side windows 10, and when i get to the GRUB menu and press enter on ubuntu i get a string of errors.

[0.101261] ACPI Error: [_ppc] Namespace lookup failure, AE_ALREADY_EXISTS (20170531/dswload-378)

[0.101268] ACPI Exception: AE_ALREADY_EXISTS, During name lookup/catalog (20170531/psobject-252)

i have a Lenovo Ideapad FLEX 4-1470

i assume you have the newest uefi bios already installed.

well with uefi it is not something uncommon to have acpi errors.

you could disassemble the dsdt and try to fix it.

did you also ask google about your hardware, if someone else already asked this question? most of the time such things have been asked and answered already on the net

If your laptop ultimately boots up, those error messages are nothing to worry about. This has been addressed several times on this forum. See the discussion here:

ACPI is frequently not implemented correctly in the BIOS. Linux expects the implementation to conform with the ACPI specification. If it doesn't, you get harmless errors. Nothing to worry about.
