ACPI battery not detected

Hi!
The battery in my Acer Aspire5000 series laptop is not being detected by ACPI.
dmesg has a long list of similar outputs
Code:

ACPI-0352: *** Error: Looking up [Z007] in namespace, AE_NOT_FOUND
search_node c13f2e20 start_node c13f2e20 return_node 00000000
    ACPI-1138: *** Error: Method execution failed [\_SB_.BAT1._BST] (Node c13f2d20), AE_NOT_FOUND
    ACPI-0352: *** Error: Looking up [Z007] in namespace, AE_NOT_FOUND
search_node c13f2e20 start_node c13f2e20 return_node 00000000
    ACPI-1138: *** Error: Method execution failed [\_SB_.BAT1._BST] (Node c13f2d20), AE_NOT_FOUND

Can anyone help?

Look like your ACPI implementation is buggy or too old... What's your distribution/kernel? My first guess would be to update to the latest kernel, then if it doesnt work, to try APM instead of ACPI.

I run Mandriva Linux LE 2005, i do have the latest kernel version. I have found out that there is an issue with acer batteries and acpi; i have to recompile the kernel with DSDT(or something like that) support.

Thanks for your reply though. It's greatly appreciated :)
