Question acpi and speedstep on a dell 500m with mandrake 10 and 9.2

I am running a dell 500m centrino laptop with 1,4 pentium m, 19 gb hd, sxga+ lcd @ sxga and 512 mb ram.

On the disk I am running mandrake 9.2 pwp on hda6 4gb, mandrake 10 rc1 on hda74 gb, shared boot 50 mb, swap 256mb and home 8gb partitons and 2 gb winxp partition

My problem is mainly with acpi and speedstep, the speedstep did change clock to 600 mhz on battery before on mdk 9.2, but now it stays constantly on 1,4 ghz how do i adjust this, on 10 rc1 there is an option of performance profiles on the klaptopdeamon but they only give me two options of 0mhz, I need to know how to adjust the speedstep

Also the acpi suspend, hibernate, sleep or whatever always fail, hibernate shut down my laptop, but trying to restart it halted while it waited for dma's to settle. my lid button makes my screen go black, and the only way to recall x is to chane to a terminal and back to x, this is identical on both mandrake versions, on suse there is a way to automate this procedure, is this possible on mandrake?

The most annoying flaw is the harddrive, on mdk 9.2 it works great, but on mdk 10 it makes an annoying high frequent humming sound while idle and on battery, it is driving me crazy! Does anyone know the cure for any of these annoyances or at least where I could find any config files or possible error logs, please help me, I am grateful for all replies
