Acer Travelmate 345T - Debian Sarge - Fan control?

Hi all,
I have an Acer Travelmate 345T with Debian Sarge
on it, 2.6 kernel.
The fan doesn't seem to work properly, and I'd like
to test it.
I tried to install a few applications to monitor
thermal and fan sensors, but when I issue the sensors
command, I get "No sensors found".
I loaded a few i2c kernel modules, but I don't really
know exactly what I'm doing.
Can anyone help?
Thanks a lot.

Many laptops do not have sensors chips as part of the design. The CPU temperature may be the only item you can monitor. The fan should be working correctly also, low speed when the CPU temperature is with in the normal range and high speed when needed.

About every 6 months or so it would be a good idea to clean the cooling intake/outtake with some low pressure canned air.

A simple test is to compile something (like a kernel) the fan speed should increase when needed or the system will stop, which means a good cleaning of the air intake/outtake is needed. In rare cases the CPU cooling unit needs to be replaced.
