Acer OneD260 wired ethernet not working

hi Guys
New-to this forum but already found and used several useful tips - so many thanks.

I have an Acer One D260; Intel Atom N450 @ 1.66ghz; 2gb ram; 160gb hd running: Mint 17 Cinnamon 32 bit; version 2.2.16; kernel 3.13.0-24generic.

Works a treat with one exception - isn't there always!
Wired ethernet fails to connect - tries and tries but no go9ld star!
Wireless works fine just a bit slow and the local area is crowded.

Any suggestions for getting it going. I think it is atheros chipset?

Details I can get are below:

steve@LittleGreyOne ~ $ ifconfig

I'm on Mint Mate 17. Just showing what commands are Available in Mint to show your hardware.

With Ethernet connected. Run

Code:
inxi -F
also

Code:
mintwifi
Post back in this thread with the results. I have a feeling your Network Manager settings may need setting though for eth0.

Go to the top and find the icon that has Wired or Wifi network connection icon.

Right click and go to Edit Connections

From there Go to the Wired dropdown and locate your eth0

Click on Edit and select Connect Automatically

it will run commands in the background and will get you connected to the internet

Just in case it is a ipv6 issue instead.

inet6 addr: fe80::8aae:1dff:fe62:b3a0/64 Scope:Link
Quote:
Next you need a router/modem that also supports ipv6. And beyond that, your ISP must also support ipv6.
http://www.binarytides.com/disable-ipv6-ubuntu/

You can try resetting the modem also before anything else.

inxi is showing eth0 is up and

Quote:
Network: Card-1: Qualcomm Atheros AR8132 Fast Ethernet driver: atl1c
the driver is loaded. So just to make sure no firmware is missing though I doubt it since inxi says eth0 is up and running.

Code:
sudo dmesg | grep firmware
If it comes back empty. With nothing. Then you should be good to go with eth0. I am kinda stumped really from here since everything looks OK to me.

I guess

Code:
sudo dmesg | tail
will show more also. Mac address and all is showing. So I cant figure on why you cannot connect.
