ACER One from 2009 - can't install VLC and reinstalling everything
Hi
I recently (unfortunately) had to reformat/reboot my Acer One. I am trying to install VLC - something I didn't get to do last year when I bought the AA1. Unfortunately, when I go to the AA1 update website, the FTP site doesn't have the file. http://www.acer.com/aspireone/suppor...s/fun.html#002 Also unfortunately, when I go to the video lan site and try to download the version for fedora 8: http://www.videolan.org/vlc/download-fedora.html I get a failed dependency error : rpmlib(FileDigests)<=4.6.0-1 is needed by rpmfusion-free-release-11-2.noarch And something telling me that I need fedora 11 for rpmfusion-free-release-11-2.noarch. This is problematic because I'm supposed to be getting the Fedora v. 8 VLC. Help? I'm trying to get something that will play video files better than mplayer. I can't play avi files which is irritating. |
Why dont you compile vlc from source ...better upgrade to latest version Fedora13 and follow this to run vlc with ease.

I would like that. Unfortunately I'm running Linpus which is based off of Fedora 8 I think. I don't think there are any Linpus upgrades, and I don't think I have the skills to get the drivers to work properly if I replace the OS.
