Acer, Linux and bluetooth.

I have an Acer Aspire 3050 and i'm using debian unstable by now. Everything is working just fine (After a lot of work), but i have no idea how to make bluetooth available. I really don't know where to start to make bluetooth work, that's why i'm here asking for help.
Anybody knows anything about?

Thanks.

You might need acer_acpi to actually enable the bluetooth device in the first place - http://code.google.com/p/aceracpi (it's an out-of-tree kernel module I now maintain - I know the Aspire 5050 is supported, so the 3050 will be as well. After building and installing the module, you would then run "echo 1 > /proc/acpi/acer/bluetooth" to turn on the bluetooth device).

You'll need drivers (If you're using a pre-packaged Debian kernel, I imagine you should have support built in already - the bluetooth device on Acer laptops is usually just an internal USB dongle). You'll also need, software wise, BlueZ libs & utils (and you might want some sort of GUI front end as well if you don't want to set-up bluetooth through the command line).

(Also, as a mild aside, I'm trying to get support for as many Acer laptop keyboards into HAL as I can, so would you mind at all reading through this and possibly helping out - http://code.google.com/p/aceracpi/wiki/ExtraKeys)

Thanks, Carlos. I compiled the module and installed it, but the bluetooth light doesn't turn on yet. I've done the echo and all.
I really don't know what kind of software to use with bluetooth. I'm really newbie with this bluetooth thing. If you can help me with this too, it would be great.

Thanks again.

I've done some google research, and used the hciconfig to list devices, but nothing appeared. Its supposed to be this way? I'm quite lost yet.

Maybe stupid question but the aspire 3050 I bought here in the netherlands doesn't have built-in bluetooth!! Are you trying to configure something that's not in there? If this answer comes a little late sorry for bothering you

Well, i'm sure there's a bluetooth switch... now i am unsure if its just the nothebook "shell". I'll check the specifications of 3050... There's a bluetooth switch in yours notebook?
Thanks

I have 2 Acer's(3000 & 3680), both have bluetooth switches, neither has bluetooth. If it doesn't show up in 'lsusb', it most likely didn't come with bluetooth.
