Acer Aspire One AOA150: Turn Display Off Even Whhen Working -- Possible?

Using: Ubuntu 8.10 running 2.6.27-11 kernel

Hi. I'd like to use my screen reader with the display turned off. In other words, after the display is off, the display should not come back on after I press any key, even when moving the mouse. I know this does not make any sense when moving the mouse even if the display is off, but I do want to use a screen reader while the display stays off. While my netbook has a button to turn off my display (Fn+F6), pressing any kep turns the display back on. I don't want the behavior. I use Orca, if that helps, but I don't think it matters what screen reader I'm using.

Is this possible? Is there anything that controls the power to the LCD display in my netbook?
