acer aspire one & wifi???

I've got an Acer Aspire One netbook. Installed Linpus Lite 9.4 and got it running, with the exception of the wifi connection.
Although Linpus promises a working wifi connection it will not connect to my router. Acer also recommends Linpus for their netbook.
Anyone with a good idea to solve my problem?

I don't know much about Linpus as I've ever only messed with it in a virtual environment but here's somethings that might help us figure out whats going on.

1. When you say it won't connect be more specific... Is it that you see your network but when you go to connect you're not getting prompted to enter your WEP/WPA key?
2. Are you able to enter your WEP/WPA key and then the connection fails?
3. Can you connect after entering your WEP/WPA key but you're not online/you don't have an IP address?

If you can it might be helpful to try connecting to another wireless access point. Sometimes if you live in an apartment building or theres other wireless routers in the area broadcasting on the same channel this will cause connection issues like this where you can't connect, or you can connect but you have high packet loss. So changing the channel through the admin configuration on the WAP can solve a lot of issues.

It don't see my network at all.
When I go to network configuration I see two network interfaces, eth0 and wlan0.
When I select wlan0 for editing (=configuration), it asks for IRQ, Mem, IO, IO1, IO2, DMA0 and DMA1. What are these things? I know what an IRQ is, and I prefer not to mess with it. So I'm unaware what to enter.

Not the same distro but this post may help you. http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...esults-687053/
I am looking into a few myself but just going to see if they will drop in price. I plan a DMZ firewall and basic web services on a few. Just need to find some USB to wired network adapter.

Can you see any wireless networks or it just yours?

Presumably the light on the front right corner indicating that the wifi us active is lit up. Swich just below it to toggle on/off

ok i did state I AM NOT USING LINPUS IM USING OPENSUSE 11.0 anyway when i go in to yast and network it says the eternet and the wifi then at he bottom when i click wifi it says:Unable to configure the network card because the kernel device (eth0, wlan0) is not present. This is mostly caused by missing firmware (for wlan devices). See dmesg output for details. oh and djsound fx do you say that to all aao wifi problems?

Please start a new thread when you have an issue, rather than tacking on to an old thread even if it is somewhat related to your issue..

The info you need to fix your issue should be the Ubuntu Aspire One wiki page.
