Acer Aspire 1680 ACPI

Well, I'v got an acer apsire 1680 like in the title and to have an acpi that half-works I had to install SUSE 9.2. Mandrake 10.1 or 10.2 don't support ACPI on my laptop.

I have also tried to recompile the kernel on mandrake 10.2 with the option acpi battery enable... but like i'm a nob on linux... It work but when I rebooted, the X server was unable to work. I did an xconf or something like that but ...

well I ended up so with SUSE but I don't have a Battery indicator and so I wondered if I just must wait to a newer version of acpi to be lunched or what can I do to make it work?

And... if someone have a .config optimized for this laptop, please send it to me.

Well, if just someone could give me a clue on how I can put a battery indicator it would be fun. And if it can be easy to make, it would be wonderful.

You have already all my thanks. And forgive me for my bad english...

See How this works, it seems to do a really good job detecting hardware. I fyou like it, go get the ubuntu hoary preview CD and see if its more to your liking. there's a lso kubuntu that focuses more on KDE instead of Gnome
