A Linux noob trying to Install Wolvix Hunter 1.1.0 on MacBook Pro...but can't. Help?
 

Hi. I am an overall Linux noob who needs help installing a distro. See, I am trying to install a distro called Wolvix onto a MacBook Pro. The full name is Wolvix Hunter 1.1.0. However, as soon as I attempt to boot from the CD, I am suddenly stopped by a fatal error telling me that there is "no bootable device." I went to Wolvix's forums and saw this thread about changing the bootloader from grub to LILO, but unfortunately, being the noob that I am, I have no idea how to do that! I don't know what to do from here except give up for the time being. That's why I've come here. I am basically trying to triple-boot Wolvix onto a MacBook Pro that I just wiped clean (backed everything up before, don't worry) so I could use it to triple-boot Mac OS X 10.6.5 (in English, that means Snow Leopard) and Windows 7. So far, I have the first two up and running perfectly, but sadly, I can't for the life of me get Wolvix to install.

One reason why I don't use Apple products is because they don't play well with Linux. They are so tied to O$ X that replacing O$ X with Linux or Windoze causes the boot loader to break.

For a distro that can install well on a Mac, Ubuntu, Fedora, or Mint would do just fine.

I'm curious, why Wolvix?
When I read that using lilo as a bootloader I'd suggest to install Slackware instead. Slackware comes with lilo as the default bootloader, is quickly installed and will teach you much about Linux.
And then when you got some experience with Linux you may change to Wolvix (and keep the lilo.conf file for the Wolvix-installation ;-))
