5 in 1 media reader on HP

I lost the usb cable for my digital camera, so now it would be very handy to make the 5in1 digital media reader to work. I have absolutely no idea where to start? The device manager doesn't see it and dmesg shows nothing when I insert a card, even the light isn't lit.

It's a HP Pavilion ZV5236EA with Fedora CORE 3.

Most of these card readers, like the 5-in-1 read in my HP nx9105 laptop, are not supported at all in Linux due to poor documentation from the manufacturer.

The card reader I have is a Texas Instrument device that is piggy-backed on the PCMCIA controller. The only docs TI have released is some stuff on the firmware loader (which loads the firmware into the device so it can be used), but this doesn't help us one single bit since all the functionality is in the firmware.

Write a mail (snail mail, if possible) and send it to HP asking for support on it. Send another mail to TI doing the same. If we get the docs, a driver will be written.
