2nd display on FC2 with toshiba portege...?

hi there:

i am running Fedora Core 2 on a Toshiba Portge. i would lik to know if its possible to use the VGA (15 pin) output for a second mointer? what i meant is that to have a second monitor and have 2 displays span across eachother?

i have got as far as to boot my laptop with the external VGA and it works but as a result, i lose the lcd on my laptop.

how do i set this up? i tried mess around with the dual head setting in the display and did not get anywhere with it.

cheers

CHUN
