I have an Acer TravelMate 250 with Fedora Core 2 that needs to run with a screen resolution of at least 1280x1024.

No matter what I try; the screen resolution sticks at 1024x768.

I've edited the /etc/X11/xorg.conf file several times: changing the mode line to have "1600x1200 1400x1050 1280x1024" and to ONLY have the 1280x1024 entry (restarting the computer teach time). I've also changed the depth from 24 to 16 to 24 again several times. But I always get 1024x768!

I don't know what to do about changing the HorizSync and VertRefresh lines, so I've left them alone at:

HorizSync 24.0 - 80.0
VertRefresh 56.0 - 75.0

Any help would be greatly appreciated ;-)

Does anyone have a laptop that displays with a resolution of or greater than 1280x1024 (i.e. 1280x1024 or 1400x1050 or 1600x1400)?

Could you please send a working copy of your xorg.conf file that I can look over?
