1024x768 on a transport zx 8mb video

I cant get that resolution, I select it and it says it writes it to configuration but I restart x and it is back to 800x600 and I know it supports it in windows just fine. My card is a ati rage LT pro agp 2x card and 8 mbs of memory on it. Please help!! My laptop is a Micron Transport zx 400 mhz, 4.5 g drive and 192mb of mem. Thank you for anyones help

As root, edit your xf86config file. There is a line which will probably read resolution "800x600" "640x480" you need to edit this line so that it reads resolution "1024x768" "800x600" "640x480"

Note that there are spaces between the quotes. Restart X (or reboot) and you should have the new resolution.
