'Acer Aspire One' using Linux - connectivity with Siemens broadband router??

Firstly, apologies if this is in the wrong section - it is my first post!

After reading many reviews I have decided to purchase an Acer Aspire One and prefer the look of Linux to Windows, however, I currently have a Siemens Broadband Router (through Orange) connected to our Apple Mac G5.

My question is, Is Linux compatible with the Siemens router i.e. will I be able to switch on my Acer, and connect straight to the internet wirelessly when at home?

Hope that makes sense, any help appreciated as I have no clue really!

Thanks
Jayne

There are no guarantees (even if another op/sys was installed on your acer) that it will or won't connect. As long as the device can detect your wireless network it should be able to connect. I had an Aspire One that worked with my 'no-name' wireless router out of the box. Personally I say go for it, many routers use Linux in them anyway.

Check the specs of the router. If it supports 802.11a/b/g the combination should work. If you have not used wireless before, make sure to configure it for wpa2 (more secure than wep).
