Check in /etc/yum.conf and see if you have any packages excluded.

It would be good to see what command you actually used abd the full output but give this a go first

Okay, you seem to have 32 bit packages installed and available packages are 64 bit. Or it might be that your mulitilibs are broken.

I would suggest this -

Code:
package-cleanup --dupes
Assuming you have a working backup and means to restore in case of a broken system, try to clean up the duplicates with

Code:
package-cleanup --cleandupes

the problem here is I don't have backup . am afraid is this wipes out any critical data and cause issues . can you confirm if I can goahead with cleaning up dupes without having any backup.

@mrajiv,

We are a bunch of volunteers, we try to help but that's it. Nobody can vouch for running a command on a system, coz our only source of information is you.
If you are paranoid, then don't use the command. Better yet, buy a subscription from RedHat and have them vouch for it.

I'll step off and let someone else pick this up.

@OP, make a backup NOW! Don't wait to back up until you need a backup, because then it's too late!

STOP. don't do it. a backup is likely $50 or less.

be happy with the desktop system you have until you have a backup.

(oh, ditto what awesome machine said)
