SD issue on imx6 using SPI interface, for some SD (out of range access)

Hi all,
I'm using a linux system based on IMX6 soc, kernel 4.19.109, and a SD slot connected to the SPI interface. So MMC driver is using the SPI controller to access the SD.

This works fine for some SD, but sometimes (for 'identical' SDs to some working ones), the setup/init of the SD device fails during init with timeouts .

Looking at the SPI bus, I found that the MMC driver, for my 8GB SD, tries to access a block near the end of the physical size (out of physical first partition for instance). the SD card responds strangely with a 'DATA error token' saying out of range.

My question is : why the MMC controller tries to access some blocks at the end, and where in the driver (MMC, SPI?) is it done ?, so that I can try to remove this to check.

Thanks a lot for your help .
regards
