Regarding Interrupt Request Line

My hardware team says the board/device is mapped to IRQ Line 4.
I have a doubt of following...

In request_irq() call, can I hard code the IRQ line straight away ???

Or it is strictly recommended to read IRQ line from PCI configuration space for that device to register the ISR.

BIOS or boot load assign interrupt number.

Do you call request_irq() in boot loader?

You can't hard code the IRQ line in request_irq() call because BIOS or boot loader assign interrupt number.
