Recent changes related to read/write_iter.

I saw in latest kernel code that on most of the places struct iovec are replaced by the struct iov_iter. Also the aio_read/write replaced by the read/write_iter. I am not able to understand these changes. Could anyone please help me to understand the changes ?

what is the purpose of the struct iov_iter in these changes ?
What is the functional differences between struct iovec and struct iov_iter ?

Thanks in advance !

First hit on search was this - surely you could try likewise.
lkml will have the patch sets/commit(s) - also searchable.
