real time kernel in a virtualised environment

Hi,
I was wondering about using a distro with a real time kernel (ubuntu studio), but only sometimes. If I hosted that in a virtual environement like fedora 12 running a generic kernel, would the advantage of the real time kernel be lost?
Thanks
Jacek
