Thumbs up porting drivers on ARM9 platform

Hi All,

I am trying to port USB-Webcam driver on ARM9 platform.Firstly what i die:

A> Cross compiled the driver on Host PC.
B> Transferred using FTP or USB drive on my target ARM9 device.

Now i am trying to insert the module on target. But i am getting this error:

"insmod:cannot insert 'driver.ko': Invalid module format(-1):Exec format error".

I have checked using hexdump editor that it is a ELF format file.

If anybody has got this error, please support in sorting out this issue.

Thanks and Regards,
Ravi Chobey

Check your cross-build environment very carefully - make sure the correct compilers, etc are being invoked. The error sounds like you're building the module for some other system.

Thumbs up

i have sorted out the issue. What i did:

When i was getting that error in inserting the module.I have passed the "dmesg" command on command line.I came to know that "usb" is not enabled in my kernel and after that i have enabled usb in kernel. And after i have again ported the kernel on Target board.Again passed "dmesg " command this time, i got video related features missing.I have enabled the video features in kernel. Now i am not getting any errors.

Thanks for going through my post.

Regards,
Ravi
