Newbie with suse 10 - "can't find kernel image"

Sorry if this is the 100th time it's been asked but I've looked and found no answer :-(

I've got a SUSe 32 DVD, an old Dell Dimension xps550 with a 128mb N-videa video card and a brand new hard drive (the old one died big time).

When I insert the DVD I get the same message

ISOLINUX 2.11 0x4321babe Copyright (C) 1994-2004 H. Peter Anvin
Could not find lernel image: linux boot:

Well I though M$ had problems but I can get off the starting blocks. I'm totally new to Linux so any help must assume they are dealing with a LIdiot :-)

Any suggestions good Linux folk out there?

Cheers

I'd start over from the basics. Bios is set to boot from cd/dvd? Is this a retail version or downloaded iso? Try a livecd or something just to make sure it wants to boot from the cd. Start there, then make sure your image is good. You should fly after that.

Smile Ubuntu Saves The Day

I tried loads of ideas to get SUSE 10 up and running - but it didn't want to know.

SO - I downloaded UBUNTU "Dapper" followed the instructions, burnt the CD, ran the LIVE version instantly and then installed it. Everything found so far (including the exra memory that SUSE10 said wasn't there) and when I opened Firefox UBUNTU found my router and instant success.

So I'm a happy bunny tonight - SUSE10 wsn't for me - UBUNTU gets maximum points from me - horses for courses.

Well now the 280 upgrades have nearly downloaded I'll go back to my new toys and play for an hour or two.

Thank you Linux Questions - I'm up and running now.

All the best
