Exclamation Multicast testing method?

Hello to all. I'm searching for weeks now a working method that can test igmp protocol on a host running a custom linux distribution.

I activated ip_multicast in kernel and tried all kind of testing methods. Adding iproutes and pings etc and nothing works.

Yesterday i tried iperf that is a multicast traffic simulator. This was the only one that worked good to me. But here's the interesting thing: it works no-matter the ip_multicast is or not activated.... ?!?!

So the basic question is:
How can i test the IGMP protocol on a specific linux based host?

VLC Player is used for both multicast server and client. You can play song/video to test your configuration.

I need a more simplistic way of testing this protocol. And by this i mean without integration of any packages. I did integrate iperf and proved not to work as expected.
