modprobe acpi-cpufreq returns unknown symbols

I'm trying to enable software CPU throttling in Linux by turning on the acpi-cpufreq driver or any other driver for that matter.

When I tried acpi-cpufreq driver, I get the following errors in dmesg:

acpi_cpufreq: Unknown symbol acpi_processor_notify_smm
acpi_cpufreq: Unknown symbol acpi_processor_unregister_performance
acpi_cpufreq: Unknown symbol acpi_processor_preregister_performance
acpi_cpufreq: Unknown symbol acpi_processor_register_performance

Why?

You don't say anything about what flavor of linux that you are using.
Or how you are loading it, or the config.

It's because Threadripper in it's newest incarnation is difficult to support. Try changing the UEFI settings. Then download the latest BIOS update and firmware.

Perhaps some info would help people here to help you. For example:

Code:
uname -a
lsmod
lscpu
cpufreq-info / cpupower frequency-info
etc etc.

What distro is it? Did you configure the Kernel yourself?
