local timer&&global timer


hello everyone,
I have run the local timer and the global timer on my own arm-a7 linux smp system successfully. however I don't know much about the global timer's function. I don't know how the global timer run in my system!!!does anyone know about the relation between the local timer and the global timer? and how does the global timer runs in the linux system?
