List of Linux Kernel Development tutorials/books
Books: Getting the basics right:
Getting the latest kernel: Kernel compilation:
Developing Kernel modules/Device drivers:
Implementing System calls in Linux:
Applying a patch: The GCC compiler, the GNU Make, and the KBuild:
The Kernel Debugger:
Last but not the least: The Linux Kernel Mailing list FAQ: http://mirror.averse.net/pub/linux/docs/lkml/ |
Great list.
Another good book for relatively new kernel is : Professional Linux Kernel Architecture. ULK3 is good for kernel 2.6.11 (or 13?), but many things changed in the new kernels. Also, I think for every kernel hacker, he needs some knowledge of the Operating Systems. One such book is this: Operating Systems: Internals and Design Principles (6th edition). |
