linux kernel 2.6.24-RC7 possible bug?
Hello
I don't know if i should report a bug of this but i wanted to test the release candidate of the new linux kernel. I downloaded linux kernel 2.6.23 and patched it with patch-2.6.24-RC7. using the command patch -p1 < patch-2.6.24-RC7 it didn't have any errors. then i issued make menuconfig and started configuring it. when I arrive at device drivers -> network support --> 100mb ethernet when I click on it there are no devices to be selected. usually there i could select via_rhine or other. the same goes for 1000 and 10000 ethernet where i could select R8169, e1000, etc. also I can't choose the devices for serial ata and some other thing that i might have missed. Is it normal that a release candidate misses these things? is it worth reporting a bug to the kernel mailing list? thank you very much |
You need to select it (spacebar will toggle it), before you go into it - it needs to show [*] not [ ]
|
yes that what i mean even if it shows[*]. there is no devices to select.
|
That sounds like a problem. I'm running -RC5; let me go get -RC7 and have a look.

Looks fine - everything as expected. Compiled and rebooted fine.
I'd expect you are missing a pre-requisite component/option. Did you bring your old (working) config across ???. |
