kerneld and udev

Hi,

at the moment i'm using udev for my custom distro, but it seems that udev is only loading device driver modules, and not other modules that provide filesystems ...etc

i learned that kerneld was introduced around kernel 1.3.xx and that it has the responsibility of loading modules on demand.

Is kerneld still used in modern linux kernels starting from 2.6.xx, or has it been decommissioned?

How does udev relate to kerneld? if at all?

How do modern linux distros load/unload modules on demand? via udev? kerneld? something else?

cheers

Debian uses udev to make the rules for loding modules at boot time and run time whit udevd daemon. And there is the bash boot scrips that slackware uses but systemd is more popular. Just take a lock at distrowatch.com. Good luck
