kernel mppe support

I wana install poptop to run a little vpn server and allow windows clients 2 use it.
but when I run this command "modprobe ppp-compress-18 && echo ok" I got a fetal error "FATAL: Module ppp_mppe not found."
then i've installed dkms-2.0.6-1 and kernel_ppp_mppe-1.0.2-3dkms.noarch but still the same error.
uname -a output:
Linux [myHostDomain] 2.6.9-023stab044.4-enterprise #1 SMP Thu May 24 17:41:23 MSD 2007 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux
and I'm using centOS 4.4

any solution to add mppe support to kernel?plz.
