kernel installation grubby error

guys i face the following problemn:
after yum erase kernel
when i try to re-install using yum install kernel
i get:

grubby fatal error: unable to find a suitable template
and the new kernel doesn't install
do you know why is this happening?

we would not usually erase the old kernel before installing the new one.

yes, know i realize i shouldn't erase before i install new one

but i don't understand how to fix it(i haven't rebooted yet, so linux is up and running atm)
i followed your link but it doesn't point to a solution
can you please help me?

never mind i did it
i manually edited grub.conf and added the new kernel rebooted and works
