Kernel 2.6.28.4 and Bootsplash

Just compliled a new 2.6.28.4 kernel (using an make oldconfig and accepting default choices). Previous kernel was 2.6.22

First thing I notice is an immediate improvement in boot speed, but in addition every thing else feels slightly faster.

Only thing Im missing is a bootsplash and looks as though bootsplash options are no longer in kernel 2.6.28

I'll probably use the splashy project, unless there's another way to display a boot splash.
Im using PCLinuxOS (based on Mandriva). Thanks in advance.
