kernel 2.6.26.8-57.fc8 not starting after software updates

Hi!

I'm using fedora core 8, I did run automatic updates of around 400 applications including several for kernel. After that update, I was prompted to restart the machine.

After restarting, then kernel 2.6.26.8-57.fc8 won't start. The error message is explained below:

-----------------------------------

Red Hat nash version 6.0.19 starting
Unable to access resume device (UUID=9c3245e7-5163-4831-9c51-f27b074d126c)
mount: could not find filesystem '/dev/root'
setuproot: moving /dev failed: No such file or directory
setuproot: error mounting /proc: No such file or directory
setuproot: error mounting /sys: No such file or directory
switchroot: mount failed: No such file or directory
------------------------------------

I can only start kernel 2.6.23.1-42.fc8

I'm new in kernel recompilation, any idea how to access and start kernel 2.6.26.8-57.fc8 ?

Thanks,
Stefano

can you edit grub and instead of UUID can u specify the actual root device ?
if you are doubtful on how to do this, please get back and we can show you.
