Hello all,

I am new to Fedora, in fact i've never messed with Linux period. I am required to use it this semester for one of my college classes. I am running windows xp, and using virtual pc. I have tried to install Fedora Core 4 on virtual pc, but I am having some problems and wonder if someone can offer some advice or assistance.

I am able to boot from the cd to install fedora. I go past the first few screens that ask about partitions and time zone settings and when I get to where it asks for a root password, I can't type anything in. I am able to use my mouse to toggle between the two boxes, one being the initial password box and the 2nd the confirmation box. I can put my cursor in the boxes but i cant type anything. Really annoying and frustrating. I have unplugged the keyboard and plugged it in thinking my connection was pulled out, have tried installation over again and still cant type anything in that box.

Anyone have any ideas?

are you quite sure you're supposed to see anything when typing in the password? I don't know what it's like with fedora, but Linux normally won't print ******* on the screen when you type a password.
