How to extract uncompressed image from /boot/vmlinuz-2.6.11 ??

I need an uncompressed image of the kernel that is contained in the above file. Unfortunately, that file has some sort of booting code, followed by the compressed image of vmlinux. How do I extract the vmlinux?

The crash utility needs such an uncompressed image of the kernel and refuses to work straight with /boot/vmlinuz.

Unfortunately, I did not. It is the stock Knoppix/Debian 2.6.11 kernel that froze the machine once. Apparently, there is a way to direct crash on symbols for a kernel compiled with the same options, but sofar I have been unsuccessful.
