How to activate flat panel with Geode LX driver ?

Platform : PC/104 with AMD Geode LX CPU with integrated graphics. Buildroot framework, kernel 4.18.10.

I am building a Linux system with Buildroot. According to the driver code in the kernel, it seems like the kernel needs some input to activate the flat panel. - see last struct comment

But I have no idea how to speak to the driver. Can anyone help ?
