Hot plug mechanism doubt

Hi,

Do all the hot pluggable devices uses irq lines (with interrupt mechanism) only, to be detected when a device was attached in any embedded system or PC in Linux? Or is there any other mechanisms available to detect the device attached using hot plug mechanism in Linux in the lower layers?

Please reply.

When you post the same question twice, people might spend time writing an answer without knowing that an answer exists already in the other thread. Thus, the Linuxquestions rules don't allow duplicates.

I don't have the answer to your question.
